Mas Rio Engages with the Community at Pasar Besuki Baru
Situbondo, SBINews.id – Yusuf Rio Wahyu Prayogo, a strong candidate for the position of Bupati (Regent) in Situbondo, is better known by the nickname Mas Rio. Recently, he conducted a spontaneous visit (blusukan) to Pasar Besuki Baru, around 2:00 AM WIB. Apart from building relationships through silaturahmi (social interactions), this visit aimed to understand the challenges faced by market traders.
During his visit, Mas Rio met several community figures, including Helmi Taher, an experienced business figure in Besuki. Helmi is the owner of a renowned fashion store in the area. He highlighted several issues related to activities in Besuki.
Another notable figure, Gus Harto, is a member of the Paguyuban Pedagang Pasar (Market Traders Association) at the new Besuki Market. Locals recognize him as an Ustad (religious scholar). Gus Harto expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of essential facilities for market traders. The inadequate availability of clean water facilities and proper waste disposal channels poses a serious challenge for the traders.
Some of the problems raised by the traders and conveyed to Mas Rio include:
- Disorganized Market Arrangement: Traders complain about the irregular and confusing market layout.
- Lack of Visitors: Pasar Besuki Baru appears to have few visitors, which caught Mas Rio’s attention.
- Competition with Established Market Traders: Traders in the new market hope that those from the old market can be relocated to the new location, allowing for fair competition.
Mas Rio has promised to address these issues and seek the best solutions for the well-being of both traders and the community in Situbondo. Hopefully, the steps taken will improve market conditions and benefit all parties.
Overall, the visit proceeded warmly. Market traders enthusiastically welcomed Mas Rio, with many calling out his name. Cheers of “Patennang” echoed loudly. With a friendly gesture, Mas Rio extended his hand for handshakes with the market residents. It seems that Mas Rio is already quite popular among the people of Besuki.
